Adult Hockey School

The Indiana World Skating Academy (IWSA) is pleased to introduce its Winter 2011 Adult Hockey School.  In response to overwhelming demand from adult recreational hockey players, a custom adult hockey school curriculum has been developed to meet the needs of adult hockey players who wish to advance both their power skating and stick and puck skills for competitive game playing and stick and puck sessions.

Dates and Times: (Spring/Summer Schedule):

Session #4: April 15th, (no class April 22nd), 29th, May 6th, 13th, 20th

Session #5: June 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, July 1st

Session #6: July 8th, 15th, 22nd, (no class 29th), August 5th, 12th

The class time has changed and will now be on Fridays from 6:15 - 7:00 PM.

The Adult Hockey School will be in session throughout the summer months.

General Information:

Beginner thru intermediate levels of power skating, edge work, and stick and puck skills will be taught for ages 18 and older.  Optional skills tests will be offered during the 5th class of each session for those wishing to have their hockey skills evaluated.   The focus of the IWSA Adult Hockey School is to develop skating and stick-and-puck technical excellence in five key areas; velocity, power, quickness, agility and control.  The IWSA Adult Hockey School coaches are Gail King and Rocky Trottier who both have extensive experience in the world of skating and ice hockey (see information section ‘about our coaches’).

Each 5 week block of classes is priced at $115.00.  Skaters will receive 1 hour of instruction + ice time.    The 'Pay As You Go' option is not allowed.   Players who miss a class day will be provided with two stick and puck passes.

Minimum Class Registration Requirements:

Skaters must be able to skate forward across the entire width of the ice without a stick and without falling while demonstrating a basic ability to shift their body weight from the right foot to the left foot. They must be able to stop. If you are an adult who has never skated or who do not possess the above mentioned skills, it is recommended that you first enroll in IWSA’s Learn-to-Skate program.  Please call Pam Robinson at 237-5565 to register.  Adults are required to wear the following hockey gear at a minimum:  helmet, elbow, and shin pads, gloves, and hockey skates.  Full hockey gear is preferred.   Please bring your hockey stick to class.  If you do not own hockey equipment, it may be purchased at the rink pro shop (237-5565 - pro shop option).
